Six-year-old child from Gorj sold to a German. DIICOT is investigating

DIICOT prosecutors opened an investigation into the sale of a six-year-old child from Gorj County to a German citizen. The family of the commune is from Danciulești commune

The investigators want to find out how it was possible for him to cross the border, what documents were used for this transaction and with the involvement of which officials. Investigations are being conducted into the possible use of a fake power of attorney.
The six-year-old boy was allegedly sold in December of last year. The family from which the minor comes would have several children, but it was not monitored by the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) Gorj, because it did not face a risk of abandonment or any situation in which it would be affected

The authorities found out about this transaction when a notification appeared on the address of DGASPC Gorj requesting to check if the minor is at home.

At the beginning of this month, the DGASPC teams went to the family’s home and did not find this child, and after checks they found out that he had been sold for 8,000 lei. “The situation of the minor came to the attention of DGASPC Gorj as a result of the address submitted by the National Authority for the Protection of Child Rights and Adoption, in April 2024. The procedure was immediately started according to the legislation in force, the institutions empowered to verify the issues being notified to intervene according to their legal competences (DIICOT)”, transmitted Minodorea Sucea, spokesperson of DGASPC Gorj.

The other two minors who were found, an eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old and six-month-old boy, were immediately picked up from the family home, who were given to foster carers.
