PNL baron from Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu, does not escape judicial control, and PSD does not want a criminal candidate

The PNL baron of Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu, does not escape the judicial review extended by 60 court days, at the request of DNA prosecutors. He is prohibited from exercising his position as president of the Prahova County Council (CJ).

The Bucharest Court rejected, on Wednesday, the appeal submitted by Iulian Dumitrescu, in the file in which he is being investigated for a bribe of 16 million lei.

In addition, PSD wants another candidate from the coalition for CJ Prahova, and annuls the current prefect of the county, Virgil Nanu.

“Anyone who has problems of a legal nature, as Iulian Dumitrescu has today, is excluded from being on the PSD list. We believe in the values ​​that we say publicly, and I expect that those from the PNL, when they say something, stick to it. I think it is not fair to the citizens of Prahova county that a man who has legal problems today, until they are clarified, should be in a position to run. At least we at the PSD have this approach and I think it is a correct approach towards the citizens”, said the Minister of Economy, Radu Oprea, in the Senate.

In the same file, Iulian Dumitrescu’s sister is being investigated for complicity in bribery and forgery in documents under private signature, and his brother-in-law, for complicity in bribery and forgery in statements.

Iulian Dumitrescu is accused that, between November and December 2022, he demanded from a businessman to purchase, in exchange for the sum of 47,500,000 lei, the shares owned by his brother-in-law in a commercial company, a value overestimated compared to the real value, and would have received the total sum of 16,210,000 lei by 04.12.2023.

One of the businessman’s companies would have had a contract with CJ Prahova at the time of the claim, and after the acquisition of the shares from Iulian Dumitrescu’s brother-in-law, a new works contract would have been assigned to him with the beneficiary CJ Prahova.

At the same time, DNA claims that irregularities were detected in Dumitrescu’s wealth declarations.
