The Minister of the Environment, Mircea Fechet, declared today in Târgu Mureş that in the financing guide of the Rabla Program for agricultural equipment, criteria will be introduced regarding the distance from the point of purchase from where the new equipment can be purchased.

He declared that the measure is necessary, because more than 2 billion lei from the programs of the Environmental Fund are leaving the country.

The model is similar to the one applied in France for the purchase of electric cars.

Mircea Fechet, Minister of the Environment, explains:

Long distances mean an environmental impact, and the legislation, while stopping us from referring to a certain company, a certain producer or a certain country of origin, gives us the possibility to have eligibility criteria related to the environment, and, when we discuss the environment, there is no doubt that the transport to the destination is a factor that we should take into account. An equipment produced in Asia should not be able to be purchased, as long as we pay with public money as easily as if it were an equipment produced in Romania or nearby.

The budget allocated to the Rabla program for agricultural machinery is 500 million lei, and the financing guide is currently being worked on.
