Almost 2,500 people expressed their opinion in an online questionnaire of the City Hall regarding the project to transform the Gară depot into a park. According to Deputy Mayor Răzvan Timofciuc, the next step consists in organizing three debates between April 3-5.
Consultations will take place with non-governmental organizations (April 3, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.), owners’ association presidents and block administrators from the Gară – Silvestru area (April 4, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and urban planning specialists, architects and landscapers (April 5, time interval 15.00 – 17.00). All consultations will take place at the City Hall.
“The significant number of participants in the survey underlines the increased interest of citizens in creating a greener, more sustainable living environment and for investments that lead to an increase in the quality of life. This active participation reflects the community’s desire to contribute to the transformation of the city and to have a say in the changes that influence their daily lives”, said Deputy Mayor Timofciuc, quoted in a press release.
According to him, the responses of the participants to the questionnaire will be presented during the debates. “All answers are taken into account and will contribute to the elaboration of the design theme for the solutions competition”, Timofciuc also said.
Some of those who responded to the questionnaire, and who made their opinion public, insisted on the idea of setting up a bus station underground. The solutions competition would be launched in partnership with the Iasi Branch of the Romanian Order of Architects.
In the current year’s budget, an amount of 1.7 million lei was allocated for the organization of the international solutions competition. The land occupied by the depot is owned by the City Hall.
