Vaslui County, repeatedly developing! 0.73 employees return to one pensioner

Vaslui County has more retirees than active employees. The exodus of the active population in recent years means that 0.73 employees return to one pensioner. It is worrying that many young people continue to leave Vaslui County, while the elderly receive among the lowest pensions at the national level.

Vaslui County accounts for a major imbalance at the socio-economic level. The average number of state social insurance pensioners in the fourth quarter of 2023 was 80,529 people.

Instead, at the end of January, a number of 58,492 employees were registered in Vaslui County. If we refer to these data, in Vaslui County there are 0.73 employees for one pensioner.

At the beginning of this year, pensions were indexed with a percentage of 13.8%. The increase came into force on January 1, 2024 and follows the second increase as a result of the recalculation. According to the leadership of the Ministry of Labor, all pensions would be recalculated in September 2024.

Pensioners from Vaslui receive an average pension of 1,629 lei, among the lowest values ​​at the national level. Other counties in the country where the lowest pensions are paid are Vrancea – 1,598 lei; Calarasi – 1,671 lei; Giurgiu – 1,603 lei.

As the pensions in Vaslui county are small, any increase by the governors is eagerly awaited by the majority of the elderly.

“They are very troubled people. Those with good pensions care little. An incentive should be given to retirees who have had children. In our county, people had nowhere to work to have good pensions. Those from Bearings, Mechanics and others had groups and have good pensions, but those from clothing, cooperatives have very small pensions”said Gheorghe Iacob, the president of the Vaslui County Committee for the Elderly.
