The thirst for strong and illegal sensations has led several drivers of off-road vehicles to flagrantly break the law in the Apuseni Natural Park.
Ten jeeps that arrived on Saturday in the Glăvoi area, where access by car is allowed, and started further, towards the “heart” of the protected area, despite the fact that there is a barrier on the road that prohibits this very thing.
In order to stay on the forest road, the “off-road-ist” drivers simply bypassed the barrier, on the left side of their direction of travel, ignoring the signs in the area that warn of the same thing: that motorized access to the park is prohibited.
“We were notified on Saturday by tourists who saw them while bypassing the barrier near the forestry canton in Glăvoi. Our colleagues went to look for them, but they did not find them in the park”, said the head of the Apuseni Natural Park Administration, Alin Moș.
As seen in the images filmed by witnesses, all the off-road vehicles are registered in Mureș and Buzău counties, so the drivers are most likely Romanian.
APNA will ask for the support of the authorities to punish the culprits, and appeals to the witnesses of the scene to contact the rangers. “We will use the images filmed by the witnesses and we will ask Bihor Prefecture for support in identifying the drivers”, said Moș.
According to the law, motorized access to a protected area is punishable by fines starting from 5,000 lei for a natural person and 25,000 for legal entities.
