The Cluj police have applied more than 56 contraventional sanctions in the total amount of 6,500 lei after the recent incidents with quadrupeds, both in the municipality of Cluj-Napoca and in other localities in the county. The situation seems out of control after a woman from Cluj complained at the end of March that she was attacked by several dogs when she went for a walk with her puppy, right on Muncii Boulevard.

“During March 27-31. the police officers from the Animal Protection Office organized activities with the aim of preventing and sanctioning acts incident to the legislative framework regarding animal protection.

At the same time, the police acted in order to prevent the victimization of the population in terms of potential canine attacks by specimens from the aggressive or dangerous categories or by strays present on the public domain.

Thus, 46 checks were carried out on animal owners and 56 contraventional sanctions were found and applied in a total amount of 6,500 lei”, transmits IPJ Cluj.

As a result of the finding of some canine specimens on the public domain in the municipality of Cluj-Napoca, Turda, Florești and the town of Gârbău, addresses were submitted to the local deliberative authorities of these territorial administrative units for taking legal measures, according to their obligations, in relation to GEO 155/2001 for the approval of the stray dog management program.
