The coach driver of the FC Bihor team is a former footballer

In the second season of League 3 in which it operates under the name of FC Bihor, the Oradea team is marching towards League 2, currently being the only undefeated team in the 2023-2024 edition of the championship. In the 19 games played in the regular season and the play-offs he got 49 points by winning 15 games and ending in a tie of four of them.

Less known about the team coached by Florin Farcaș is the fact that they travel on the routes of League 3 with a customized coach, and at the wheel is a former footballer.

The coach driver of the FC Bihor team was a footballer and goal scorer in the fourth league in Bihor

Cristian Gabriel Oșan is the name of the one who drives the bus with which FC Bihor travels in League 3 and is going strong this season, being the only team in the competition that is undefeated after 19 matches.

Oșan, now 48 years old, was a footballer, writes Bihor Online. He did his junior training at FC Bihor and was active at the level of League 3 in Romania and the second league in Hungary. He started playing football at the age of 6 in coach Marta’s group, and in 1990 he joined the Săgeata Crișului project, where he had teammates Sebastian Sfârlea and Marius Popa, the latter of whom is currently the goalkeeping coach at FCSB.

“I returned from where I left in 1997, when FC Bihor was relegated to League 3 and a trial was held from the whole county to make up the team. The team promoted and I reached Crișana Tinca, in the county, with whom I promoted and came out top scorer again”recalls Cristian Oșan.

In the 1998-99 season he was the top scorer of the Olimpia Salonta team, with 32 goals, with which he won the fourth league. After a tour in the third echelon with Olimpia, Oșan went to play in Hungary, where he played in the second division. “I stayed in Hungary for seven and a half years, after which I went to Spain, where I also worked, but together with a group of Romanians we formed a mini-football team near Tarragona”says Cristian, quoted by Bihor Online.

Cristian Oșan has been a driver at FC Bihor since 2022. “My biggest wish is to take the team all over the country in the summer, to the cities that have clubs in League 2”

His last experience as a footballer was at Partium Oradea, a team with which he was promoted from the fifth league to the fourth league in Bihor. He retired when he was 41 and then took up driving.

From 2022, that is, the year from which CA Oradea transformed into League 3 into FC Bihor Oradea, it transports the team to away games.

“I feel wonderful to be part of the FC Bihor family. As a small child, I was very fond of this club and I have fond memories of those who are part of the technical and even administrative staff. I grew up with FC Bihor, and my biggest wish is to take the team all over the country in the summer, to the cities that have clubs in League 2. As I have traveled all over Europe, my dream is that after the new stadium comes in in the football circuit let’s go with FC Bihor in the European cups. A city like Oradea deserves to have a team at the highest possible level”Cristian Oșan also said.

FC Bihor is failing this season in League 3 and will play for the third year in a row at least in the semi-final stage of the promotion barrier in League 2

Last weekend, FC Bihor had a home match in the first stage of the League 3 play-off. It prevailed at the “Iuliu Bodola” stadium with a score of 4-1 in front of the last ranked team in this tournament, Phoenix Buziaș.

The team coached by Florin Farcaș also took advantage of the other result in the group, 2-1 for Poli Timișoara in the match with CSC Peciu Nou, so that they were 13 points ahead of the team from Peciu Nou, ranked 3rd.

There are nine stages in the play-off, and FC Bihor does not have much left until it mathematically secures its access to the semi-final stage of the promotion barrier in League 2. Taking into account that it has a seven-point lead over Poli Timișoara, the second ranked, the band from Oradea has a good chance of ending the play-off of the 8th Series in 1st place. Under these conditions, in the semi-final stage of the play-off, they will meet the second-ranked team from Series 7, the position currently held by ACSO Filiași.

FC Bihor also played last season in the semi-final stage of the promotion bracket in League 3, but lost the double with Unirea Ungheni, after 1-1 in Ungheni and 2-3 in Oradea. And two seasons ago, when the team was called CA Oradea, it played in the semi-final stage of the pool. Then it did not pass CS Hunedoara (currently Corvinul), after 2-4 in Oradea and 0-0 in Hunedoara.

At the third attempt, the people of Oradea hope to promote to League 2, a competition in which the last time the municipality had a representative in the 2018-19 season, Luceafărul Oradea, who played more in Sânmartin. FC Bihor was last active in League 2 in the 2015-2016 edition.
