Images of dozens of dead fish were published on social media on Sunday, and the source of the pollution has not yet been identified.

From the photos published on the Oradea Facebook group, dozens of specimens can be seen lying on the banks of the Peța.

In the field, the reporters BIHOREAN they noticed a lot of dead fish, of different sizes, starting near Marty’s restaurant, up to the intersection of Meiului Street and Prieteniei Street.

Some were on land, in an advanced state of decomposition, a sign that the pollution had already been occurring for several days.

The inspectors of the Bihor Environmental Guard were informed about the pollution in Peța on Sunday morning.

“The notification was made on Sunday morning. Dead fish were found, tens of meters away. My colleagues made checks in the field from the Salca park to the Sky Hotel area and did not find the source of pollution, and further checks will be made “, he declared for Bihor the head of the Bihor Environmental Guard, Sever Şerbănescu.

The water in Peţa has been polluted in the past. In 2022, for example, the sewerage network of the Oradea Water Company overflowed into the Adona stream and large amounts of household waste ended up in the water course, and further into the Peţa stream, killing numerous fish even then.
