A 53-year-old woman from Botoşani was given a new chance at life after undergoing a kidney transplant operation.

She, along with a 42-year-old man from Bacău, were on the transplant list for two years. The organs were taken from a 32-year-old man from Iasi, who was brain dead at the Neurosurgery Hospital.

“We are talking about two patients with a genetic disease, a coincidence, a genetic disease that can lead to kidney failure and dialysis. A patient from Bacău, younger than 42 years old, and a lady from Botoșani, 53 years old, who have been on the list for 2 years, the woman had dialysis sessions 3 times a week”stated Ionuţ Nistor, spokesperson of Parhon Hospital.

Transplant done for the first time

For the first time, on Sunday, an emergency liver transplant was performed at the St. Spiridon Hospital, for acute liver failure-fulminant toxic hepatitis. The recipient was a 33-year-old woman, mother of 4 children from Galati County, who was brought by emergency ambulance in a coma without being able to specify the toxic substance in the UPU and admitted to the ATI on Friday.
