New postponements, 4 years after the start of works on the Ghencea Extension! | Radio Bucharest FM – Radio Music Live Online

Four years after the start of the works to widen the Ghencea Extension to four lanes, the general mayor of the capital Nicușor Dan advances new deadlines for this investment work.

Unfortunately, this is not about the completion of the work.

The head mayor only promises that, in two months, it will be possible to travel on four lanes from the Ghencea terminal – the end of tram line 41, to the intersection with Strada Râul Doamnei.

As for the third and fourth sections of the work, they are still in the bidding phase, in two weeks until the contract is awarded.

“Now, at the Ghencea Extension, in the summer, i.e. in two months, we will have traffic on four lanes, up to Râul Doamnei.
The evaluation procedure of the tender submitted in the public procurement is about to be completed. So, I expect that, in one to two weeks from now, we will award the contract.
And, after that, a private company will come in, which will work on segments three – four, the tram line and the park&ride”, answered Nicușor Dan to a question from Bucharest FM.

The four-year delay in the works would have been caused by design problems, claims the chief mayor.

Nicusor Dan: “This is the advantage of working with private companies, instead of municipal companies, which, even if they want to, do not have the expertise and experience to do this type of work.
For complex work, a firm that has 30 years of expertise will be better than a firm that has 5 years of expertise.
For the Metropolitan Buildings Trust, the work they are doing I am satisfied.
For example, I remind you that they were the project manager at Mrs. Ghica and they kept to the deadline”.

Reporter: “But at the Ghencea Extension, are you satisfied with how it is progressing”?

Nicusor Dan: “They stuck to the term they assumed (… at Doamna Ghica no).
At the Ghencea Extension, we had a big, big problem, also from a municipal company. I had a big, big design problem. On 900 meters, we had 80 yard dispositions.
On 900 meters of road, 80 changes to the project were needed, because the initial project did not provide for the solution in line with the reality, compared to the reality on the ground”.
