The eDAC application, used by the police to check identity documents

--
In the context of Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, starting on March 31 this year, a new system for verifying identity documents was operationalized.

According to IPJ Tulcea, the eDAC application will be used by the structures within the Ministry of Internal Affairs to establish the identity of the person and verify any mentions regarding it.

“The new application will be used from mobile devices or tablets, by the policemen of the Tulcea County Police Inspectorate, both in their current activities and at the access points in the institution or at the counters intended for the public.

Using these mobile devices, a scan will be made of the document presented by the verified person (identity card, passport), the application compares the data presented with those existing in the databases and immediately displays information if we are talking about a tracked person or who does it have any prohibition” – the IPJ Tulcea representatives also specified.

At the same time, they will be able to access the person’s photo in the application, in order to make a comparison with the verified person.

If certain problems are found, the person concerned will be taken to the headquarters of the police unit for further checks.
