According to ISU Tulcea, the fire broke out around 00:30, on a ship carrying grain, anchored in Mila 35 area, Tulcea county.
Forces and means from the Tulcea Fire Department, a crew from the Border Police, a crew from the River Administration of the Lower Danube and a crew from the County Ambulance Service intervened urgently. Also, to extinguish the fire, the tugboat in the AFDJ’s equipment was also used.
The intervention forces found that the fire was widespread, with large releases of smoke, in a room of the ship.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire after approximately 2 hours.
Fortunately, no one was caught in the flames. One room of the ship burned, and 5 others were damaged, on an area of approximately 150 square meters.
The probable cause of the fire was determined to be a short circuit.
