The National Transplant Agency announces on Saturday that at the dawn of the day, the first organ collection of this year from a brain-dead patient was completed at the Elias University Emergency Hospital, and at the Fundeni Clinical Institute’s Liver Transplant Center, another critical patient will be able to says that “he was born a second time”, thanks to the liver transplant intervention.
“At dawn, the first organ collection of this year from a brain-dead patient was completed at the Elias University Emergency Hospital. We thank the family of the donor who agreed to overcome his own suffering and give a chance at life to fellow sufferers. Behind each agreement, which will lead to lives saved by transplantation, is the effort of the medical staff involved in the declaration and donation activity, in general the staff of the ATI section and the transplant coordinator. We thank the team at Elias University Emergency Hospital, consisting of Dr. Denisa Niţu – transplant coordinator, Dr. Andreea Stroi – kdp, Dr. Andra Stirbu, Dr. Marius Deliu, Dr. Gabriel Bunescu, Dr. Georgiana Dan, Dr. Octavian Ursateanu, who made it possible for hope to appear in the souls of other patients in great suffering”, the National Transplant Agency sent on Facebook.
The agency specifies that the surgical teams of the Fundeni Clinical Institute were present for the sampling interventions, led by Dr. Guenadiy Vatachki – for the liver, and Dr. Andrei Andresanu – for the kidneys.
“Thus, at the Liver Transplant Center of the Fundeni Clinical Institute, another critical patient will be able to say that he was “born a second time”, thanks to the liver transplant intervention. The life-saving intervention was successfully carried out by the team of surgeons coordinated by Prof. Dr. Vladislav Braşoveanu, with the indispensable support of the ATI team – led by Prof. Dr. Dana Tomescu. The kidney transplant intervention was carried out in the Kidney Transplant Center of the Fundeni Clinical Institute by the team of surgeons led by Dr. Cătălin Baston. The National Transplant Agency thanks all the people who understand that the donation of organs and tissues is a supreme gesture, as well as the medical teams who make it possible to save those for whom the transplant represents the only chance for life”, the message states.
