Adding IMS profile for Google Pixel phones that do not support VoLTE, VoWiFi and 5G connectivity

Google has launched some very interesting smartphones in the last couple of years. With the debut of the Pixel 6 series, came proprietary Tensor processors, a memorable design and excellent cameras. The trend continued in the case of the Pixel 7 series, and the terminals have become attractive for us Romanians, especially since last year we can order them through Amazon DE. However, no operator in Romania, whether we are talking about Orange, Vodafone, DIGI or Telekom, does not offer VoLTE, VoWiFI and 5G support for Google Pixel smartphones.

The situation has been reported by many owners of Pixel phones on our Facebook group over time, but also by us in the video review of the new Google Pixel 7 Pro. Recently we found out that the application for the implementation of VoLTE, VoWiFi and 5G support can only be initiated by telecom operators.

The procedure was explained on the Orange forum by a user last autumn, but it can be applied by all operators in Romania who want to offer support for this type of connectivity for Google Pixel smartphones.

Thus, we decided to open a public petition which you, our readers, can sign here. It is to reach all telephone operators in Romania in order to initiate the request action to Google, so that the manufacturer in question can fill in the missing information.

On the Google IssueTracker page (the place of registration of requests) there are also examples of operators from other countries who have followed the procedure, the missing functions being successfully activated following notification. The best example would be DIGI Italy, the operator’s request being resolved by Google within a period of only 7 days from initiation.

This article can be seen as an open letter to all operators in Romania, whether we are talking about Orange, Vodafone, Telekom or DIGIfor them to initiate a request to Google to enable the missing connectivity features.
