Romanian sports received a devastating blow the other day. One of the best basketball players from Bucharest died at the age of 21. Luca Petcu was active in League 1 at a team that promised a lot, being a very ambitious young man who wanted to go far.

Those who knew Luca Petcu were shocked when they found out what happened to the young man of only 21 years. Nothing foreshadowed what was to come as the boy led a very healthy lifestyle.

Who was Luca Petcu, the basketball player who died at 21 years old

Luca Petcu was born on October 18, 2001, in Bucharest. The young man studied at the “Mihai Viteazul” National College, and in 2020 he will enter the Faculty of Automation and Computers in the Capital. His passion has always been basketball, which is why he managed to be part of several clubs, including Dan Dacian Bucharest, Steaua, Agronomi and NN Ulisse.

The news was given on Facebook only a day ago by a representative of the Romanian Basketball Federation. Luca had been diagnosed with a rather serious illness only a few weeks ago, and at the beginning of December he passed away due to cardiorespiratory arrest. The basketball player’s funeral took place on December 6, 2022, when friends, relatives and family led him on his last journey.
