In 1967, the young Ioana Casetti caused a sensation when she appeared in her debut film “Three times Bucharest”, being considered the most beautiful woman in Bucharest.

The film, made to celebrate 500 years since the first documentary attestation of the Capital, comprised three distinct cinematic stories, each with a different cast and a different director.

These were: Part I – “Forced Landing”, directed by Horea Popescu, Part II – “The Return”, directed by Mihai Iacob and Part III – “Bucharest”, directed by Ion Popescu-Gopo.

Ioana Casetti appeared in the first part, playing the role of Claudia, an English-speaking ONT guide, who had to respond to a marriage proposal from a pilot played by Traian Stănescu.

But the beauty of the actress made many colleagues on the set swarm around her: Ion Dichiseanu, Cornel Patrichi, Dem Rădulescu.

But the blonde, just out of the IATC benches, was conquered by a young, at that time, director from Romanian Television, Valeriu Lazarov.

Casetti, an actress at Teatrul de Estrada, was a guest, more and more often she was invited to TVR, in the entertainment shows produced by Alexandru Bocăneț, and Lazarov’s advances did not leave her indifferent, marrying him, according to the cinema .ro.

The wedding happened quickly, and between the two there was a great love that seemed to last a lifetime.

And yet, the breakup occurred after, in 1968, Valeriu Lazarov fled the country, becoming a famous TV producer, especially in Spain and Italy.

He returned to Romania after 1990, where he was nicknamed the “father of surprises”, from the show “Surprises, surprises”, but also from other successful productions such as “Din Dragoste”, “Iartă-mă” or “Ploaia de stele”.

He died in 2009 at the age of 73. In the same year, Ioana Casetti spoke highly of her first husband.

“He was a gentleman of the soul. He took great care of all his loves, of all his marriages, but he never betrayed his great and only love, television.

Valeriu was a chosen man, a special man, of whom I keep the most beautiful memories. What was between us, however, I would like to remain there, in our privacy”, said the actress for Libertatea.

Ioana Casetti did not continue much on the path of acting where she had debuted so successfully. He appeared in only a few more films: “Friends Without Speech” (1969) and “The Siege” (1970).

She remarried the ballerina and choreographer Păstorel Ionescu, having a lasting and fulfilling marriage until his death in 2020.

With time, she gave up acting and devoted herself to another passion, saving stray animals, today she is the president of the National Committee for the Protection of Animals (CNPA) and the director of the shelter in Mogoşoaia.

The shelter for stray dogs from Mogoşoaia was established since 1979 and currently shelters 200 such four-legged animals.
