Lizzo quits music, fed up with criticism after accusations of harassment

The singer is tired of the lies that are told about her and the mockery of her.

Lizzo took to social media to announce that he is retiring from his music career because sa “tired of being pulled down by everyone”.

The 35-year-old singer, famous among others for the song “Truth Hurts”, wrote on Instagram: “I’m tired of putting up with being dragged down by everyone, both in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help make the world a little better than I found it.”, the American rapper also said. However, she stated: “I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. I’m constantly faced with lies being told about me because of my influence and opinions, being the target of jokes more and more because of my appearance”.

Lizzo told her more than 10 million followers that people who don’t even know her are the ones criticizing her: “They don’t respect my name. I didn’t sign up for this. I resign”she concluded her message, followed by the peace sign.

Last year, Lizzo and her producer were accused by former dancers Arianna David, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez of sexual harassment and said they created a hostile work environment. The trio filed a lawsuit against Lizzo and her company, but the singer strongly denied the allegations.

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, took to social media to respond to the allegations and said they were as “unbelievable as they sound”. “My work ethic, my morals and my respect were questioned. My character has been criticized”, she said in a statement last August. The singer added that she never was “her intention to make someone feel uncomfortable or unappreciated as an important part of the team”.
