Emma Stone broke down in tears during a question and answer session about her new film Poor Things in London after an autistic fan told her about his “lonely” life at school.
The 35-year-old actress was impressed by the young man’s story.
“I have followed your career for the past 12 years. I love Poor Things. I’ve seen it six times. You always bring energy to the screen in your every appearance and everything you create is always pure and honest. I fell in love with your heart, your confidence, your strength, your support for those with mental health issues. Growing up as one of the few autistic children in school, I felt lonely and unable to make friends. During breaks, I would retreat to the computer room and watch your old SNL (no – Saturday Night Live) sketches,” the young man said.
“You mentioned a few times that you felt insecure about yourself because you didn’t finish high school and go to college, but I loved the comfort and security you brought me over the years.” he also said.
His story sparked a wave of emotion in the hearts of those in the audience, being applauded. Emma Stone burst into tears and walked off the stage, giving him a hug.
