Matthew Vaughn, the director of the new movie starring Henry Cavill, “Argylle,” has revealed that the actor was close to becoming James Bond in the early 2000s.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM, Vaughn said that Henry Cavill was one of the final names on the producer list for the James Bond series when Pierce Brosnan was replaced. The role, however, returned to him Daniel Craig.

“It was down to the last two Bonds… And I know the director preferred your audition. But producer Barbara Broccoli wanted Craig”Vaughn confided to Cavill. “Just so you know. They decided you were too young. I probably shouldn’t have said that, but Broccoli isn’t my fan anyway, so I don’t have much to lose. I guess it was a blessing, though. You were too young for the ‘curse Bond'”, added the director, in front of the actor. Henry Cavill appeared quite stunned by the confession, although he did not want to comment on it.
