Demi Moore, the 61-year-old actress, has spoken out about what it means to care for someone diagnosed with dementia, as her ex-husband has been battling the disease for almost two years.
Bruce Willis, 68, retired from acting in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia. In February 2023, Moore and his current wife revealed that his illness had worsened and he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

On “Radio Andy,” host Andy Cohen, 55, asked the actress if she had any message for people who have someone in their family with dementia, and she responded immediately.
“I think the most important thing I could share is that they should accept what they’re going through, respect that,” she said, according to Nypost.com.
“When you leave behind who they were, who you think they should be or who you wish they were, only then can you be present and enjoy what you live, you can be with them unconditionally“, she also reacted.
Demi Moore and her daughters with Bruce Willis – Rumer, 35, Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 29 – have been by Bruce Willis’ side since he was diagnosed.

Willis and his current wife Emma Heming Willis, 45, are parents to two daughters – Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, nine.
Last month, one of the actor’s relatives broke the silence about his health: “Bruce has good days and bad days, but in the last two months there have been more bad days. This experience brought the family closer than ever. No one knows how much time Bruce has left, so he’s enjoying every moment we have together.”said the source.

Emma opened up about her husband’s health issues during an interview with Today and said her whole family’s life has been affected by Willis’ situation.
“It’s hard for the diagnosed person, it’s also hard for the family. And that’s no different for Bruce or me or our girls. When they say this is a disease that affects the whole family, it really is,” Emma explained.

Heming also testified that their daughters have learned to become much more empathetic since caring for their father.
“It teaches them so much, how to care for someone and how to love..it’s really a beautiful thing in all this sadness,” she said.
