Two policemen were seriously injured on Thursday evening in a police station in the south of Paris, after a man who had been arrested for assault stole the weapon of one of them and opened fire, writes AFP, taken over by Agerpres.
The events took place shortly before 10:30 p.m. The head of the Paris police, Laurent Nunez, explained to the media that the attacker had been arrested around 10:00 p.m. in a building in a neighborhood in the south of Paris for a “very violent attack on a woman” with a cutter.
“The policemen intervened and brought him here (to the station) and at the time of his taking over, he stole the weapon” of an agent and “seriously” injured two policemen.
The latter were immediately transported to the hospital, as was the attacker, who was also seriously injured by a fire in self-defense, explained Nunez.
The public prosecutor’s office in Paris explained to AFP that three investigations were opened: for the “attempted murder of the woman”, for the “attempted murder of persons holding public authority”, as well as a third one, entrusted to the “police police” for “intentional violence with weapons by a person holding public authority”.
This last type of investigation is always carried out when a policeman makes use of his weapon.
The prosecutor’s office added that the individual in question, “wounded in the chest, was taken to the hospital”, and his life is not in danger.
