A 19-year-old woman who felt sick after a holiday with her friends and thought she was suffering from a hangover received devastating news from doctors.

Ella Pick went on a four-week holiday with friends to the Greek island of Zakynthos in June last year, and when she returned she felt sick, but she thought it was the effect of the excess alcohol she drank while in Greece . She had severe migraines and a few days after returning to the UK she noticed that her left eye was starting to move inwards, prompting her to see an ophthalmologist, who referred her to hospital.

Doctors in Lincolnshire discovered a lump on Ella’s brain following CT and MRI scans, according to the Daily Mirror.

It was later determined that she had an incurable and inoperable brain tumor, so in July 2023 Ella learned that she only had 12 months to live.

“I look back and I realize very clearly that I was not well. The pressure in the back of my head was terrible. I have always suffered from migraines, but never this violent. I went for an eye test and was referred to the hospital, where I received the devastating newsElla said.

It is not known if the migraines he had before were also related to the tumor. Ella decided to get on with her life as normal, turned down an interview for her dream job as a flight attendant for British Airways and took a job at a supermarket instead. Her main goal is to live as beautiful moments as possible with friends and family, so that they have wonderful memories with her.

“I felt completely numb, I still don’t realize it’s true. Everyone else around me is so much more hurt than me“, she says.

“I can’t say exactly how much time I have left, because I can’t do a biopsy because of the location of the tumor. If I did a biopsy, the risk of being paralyzed is very high”Ella explained.

After hearing the news, Ella went on several vacations with her family. “I’m just trying to stay positive”she also said.

Last year, she underwent radiation therapy sessions in an attempt to slow the progression of the tumor. The good news is that after the latest investigations, it was determined that the tumor has not grown any further and is stable after treatment. Ella says she is “open to anything” that would increase her chances of survival.
