PRESENTATION… The Party Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) Vaslui has established its candidates for the mayors of communes, cities and municipalities in Vaslui county and has emphasized, once again, the need for change at the level of local public administration, because those who led the destinies of the people of Vaslui in the last 34 years have not been able to do anything other than take the county to the last places in all rankings. The list of AUR candidates is opened by Sorin Chelmu, who will run for the head of the Vaslui County Council, and continues with famous names such as Ionel Sandu, the AUR candidate for the Vaslui City Hall, Cătălin Țocu, the AUR candidate for the Huși City Hall, or Lucian Nechita, the AUR candidate for the City Hall Barlad. The Alliance for the Union of Romanians shows the same strength with regard to the local and county councilors, managing to co-opt important businessmen into the team, such as Emil Enache, the administrator of the Enache Morărit company, Petru Pascal, one of the most important producers of table grapes from Vaslui county, Constantin Pârgaru, an important farmer, or Gabriel Vrânceanu, the owner of a restaurant in the county seat municipality. Also, AUR Vaslui is the only party in the county that also has a candidate for the European Parliament, in the person of Laura Gherasim, who does not occupy a place at the end of the list, as happens with other parties with candidates from Vaslui, but was placed on an eligible position, with a high chance of representing the Romanians in Brussels.

In 2020, AUR Vaslui seemed to be a party gathered from the water, without candidates for mayors and county council, and even under these conditions it managed to send two representatives to the Romanian Parliament. The year 2024 finds the same political formation much better prepared, with candidates in almost all communes, cities and municipalities in the county. The AUR management was not satisfied with just filling the lists with some names, but sought and found viable solutions for all administrative-territorial units. Thus, for the elections on June 9, AUR Vaslui is coming before the electorate with dozens of professionals in their fields of activity, whether we are talking about businessmen, medical staff, teaching staff, construction engineers, agronomists or administrators. All of them proposed that, under the AUR logo, they would bring a new breath to Vaslui politics, the main objective being the replacement of those in the current local administration who took the county to the last places in the rankings regarding the well-being of the population. Yesterday, Sorin Chelmu, the leader of AUR Vaslui, who is running for the presidency of the Vaslui County Council, spoke about this wind of change. “The moment of truth has arrived. If until now the people of Vaslui had a choice between the lesser evil and the greater evil, today, they have an alternative, and this alternative is called the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR). I don’t think it’s time for Romanians to be afraid anymore. I have seen this fear going through the villages and communes of Vaslui, in people who are afraid of the mayor’s reaction. The Alliance for the Union of Romanians fights for justice, because in the middle of our policies are people and their needs. AUR supports the people of Vaslui so that together we can build a beautiful and prosperous county”, said Sorin Chelmu in the press conference held yesterday in the parking lot of the former Interex complex in the municipality of Vaslui.

Ionel Sandu: “AUR will have open doors for citizens, not trunks for personal interests”

Along with Sorin Chelmu, all the AUR candidates for the town halls in Vaslui county were present at the press conference on Thursday. New names, many who have not been involved in politics before this year, but also experienced candidates who have gone through several electoral cycles. Among those who decided to get involved in politics in the 2024-2028 mandate is Ionel Sandu, the AUR candidate for Vaslui City Hall, who yesterday had a sharp speech against the Social Democratic Party. “I want to ask those who led our destinies in the last 34 years why they brought us to the last place in all rankings? Why did our children run abroad, why did they make us sit upside down all the time? These are the reasons why I chose to take the step towards politics. I, together with my team of advisers, will not come to the election campaign to throw such and such words. I have with me people who have demonstrated in their fields of activity, who have projects and who will demonstrate that they are skilled in the seats of local councilors. We all set out to make the change, because Vasluiul really needs something like this, it needs a new breath. On a TV show I was asked by a PSD leader what I will do to attract investors to our county. I can now answer this person that I will never sit with the trunk open at the entrance to Vaslui, I will open the city, I will do my best to encourage the local business environment, because this business environment is the backbone of society. At AUR, there will be no open trunks, only open doors for citizens, projects and future plans”, assured Ionel Sandu. Another name of caliber that the Alliance for the Union of Romanians has thrown into the electoral battle of this period is Cătălin Țocu, the lawyer who is running for Huși City Hall. “We are on the verge of a fight that I am convinced we will win. I am asking the local press to objectively reflect the events that we will produce through the value we have during the electoral campaign. We need the support of our constituents and objectivity. We, the GOLD candidates, are all serious people, we are people who paid tribute to the value, the skill of each one of us. I am convinced that together we will succeed in improving the local public administration at the level of Vaslui County. We shouldn’t talk about its shortcomings, its outdated character, the media did. The rest of us are damaged, we are affected both in our pockets and in our souls”, said the AUR candidate at the Husi City Hall.
