A road accident took place in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, in the town of Snagov in Ilfov county, in the area where the first smart speed limiter was installed. The driver driving on the county road from Ghermănești entered the opposite direction and hit the fence on the side of the road, stopping in a pole.
The man said he noticed the speed limiter sign but failed to read the sign, causing him to panic and lose control of the car. The intelligent speed limiter, installed in the area, has the ability to detect the speed of drivers from a distance and allows them to pass without slowing down only those who respect the legal limit, reports stirileprotv.ro.

This innovative device works by raising the bumper to 6 and a half centimeters if sensors in the asphalt detect a speed greater than 30 kilometers per hour, and it lowers when drivers fall within this limit. In addition, the system is equipped with a button that pedestrians can press to cross the street safely, at which point the limiter rises to allow passage.

The technology of this intelligent speed limiter comes from Mexico, being brought to Europe by a Romanian. The installation of this device in one direction would entail a cost of 130,000 lei, but in the present case, the installation in the Ghermănești area was carried out for free, as part of a pilot project.
