In April, natural gas and electricity consumers had reasons to rejoice, thanks to the decrease in bill prices.

Natural gas prices have fallen by up to 25% compared to the maximum capped price. For example, the main gas supplier charged a price of 0.23381 lei per kWh, while the capped price was 0.310 lei per kWh.

Also, for electricity, household customers with a monthly consumption of over 300 kWh benefited from price reductions of up to 15%, compared to the maximum price of 1.3 lei per kWh.

Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy: “We promised lower electricity and natural gas bills. I remind you that on March 28 I publicly declared, after the Government meeting, that Romanians will receive lower energy bills. I firmly and well-groundedly supported it based on the analyzes we did and which we promoted by updating the compensation-ceiling mechanism (EOG 27/2022). What was a certainty for me since the moment the new mechanism was promoted in the Government, is confirmed today by invoices. I have always argued: the state must intervene where necessary, when necessary and how necessary. There is no need to overturn a whole system, but to calculate, analyze and apply head on. We continue to protect Romanians’ bills.

Confirmation of the effectiveness of these measures also came from Eurostat, which reported that the energy prices paid by Romanians are among the lowest in the European Union.
