The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra was one of the most interesting foldables on the market, especially thanks to its outer screen, which not only covered almost the entire surface of the device, but could also run any “regular” application on the secondary screen. Although we haven’t heard much about the successor of this device, it seems that Motorola is preparing for the release of the Razr 50 Ultra, and those who choose this model will be able to enjoy a significant storage upgrade compared to the previous generation.

The next Motorola Razr’s biggest upgrade could be storage

Motorola probably won’t change the formula of its clamshell foldables much with the Razr 50 Ultra. Expect mostly the same design and new case colors (blue, green and “Peach Fuzz”), but with similar screen and camera sizes and formats. Basically, it will be a spec upgrade, but those who choose this model could also get double the storage for the same price as last year.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra was launched in a configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage in the basic version, and for the 50 Ultra, the company could offer for the same price of 1,200 euros 512 GB of storage, but also 12 GB of RAM ( according to DealNTech). This might also be the only configuration available. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the chipset that Motorola will integrate.

The Razr 40 Ultra was a great foldable, but it came very close to the release of the Galaxy Flip5, with a previous-generation processor. It will be interesting to see if Motorola will repeat last year’s ‘mistake’, or if it will adopt a current generation chipset. One advantage the company has this year is that there is Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a chipset that offers a balance between the performance and functionality of the 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3 models. The company already uses this chipset on the new Edge 50 Ultra, the flagship for the year 2024 which is to be officially launched on the market.

The release of the Razr 50 Ultra is expected in the next few weeks. Motorola launched last year’s model in June at an event held in Madrid.
