Dortmund cash in more if they lose in the UCL final thanks to a clause in Bellingham’s contract

In the Champions League final on June 1, Dortmund will face Real Madrid, 14 times winner of the trophy. On this occasion, “Die Schwarzgelben” will be reunited with former Signal Iduna Park star, Jude Bellingham. An interesting clause is linked to the English midfielder, as a result of which Borussia would benefit more financially if they lost the duel in the capital of England.

For Dortmund, it will be the third UCL final in the club’s history, one lost in 2013, another won in 1997.

In Bellingham’s contract, Real commit to paying a further £4.3m should the England international lift the Champions League trophy in his first six years at the Bernabeu.

This amount can reach 18.9 million euros: 1.7 million pounds if the Birmingham-raised footballer will catch the team of the tournament + 12.9 million awarded to the finalist. Thus, Dortmund will collect 1.7 million euros more than if they completed their record with the second UCL trophy in history.
