Apple recently introduced significant updates to its tablet lineup, with the release of new iPad Pro models and a refresh of the iPad Air lineup announced at the Let Loose event.
As for the iPad Air, Apple brings two new variants to the market, with screen diagonals of 11 and 13 inches, but maintains the LED IPS screen technology, unlike the Pro models that switch to OLED.
The new iPad Air series gets a significant performance upgrade with the inclusion of Apple’s M2 chip. This change promises a performance increase of 50% compared to the previous generation that included the M1 chip, and three times higher compared to the model equipped with the A12 Bionic processor. Also, the new iPad Air will support Wi-Fi 6E and, in the variants with cellular connectivity, 5G.
Other improvements include relocating the selfie camera for a more natural perspective when the tablet is used in landscape mode and an aluminum case design available in four colors: blue, purple, starlight and space gray.
Price & availability
The iPad Air will be available with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. The base models will be priced at $599 for the 11-inch version and $799 for the 13-inch version. For the Romanian market, the prices will be equivalent in euros and will include VAT of 19%.
In parallel with these releases, Apple also announced a price cut for the base model iPad (10th generation), which will now cost $100 less, starting at $349 in the United States . This model is equipped with a 10.9-inch IPS screen, the A14 Bionic processor and a storage capacity of 64GB.
