The phenomenon is associated with exposing the phone to large temperature variations, for example quickly moving from a warm to a cold environment, or keeping the device in low temperature environments.

Although Xiaomi does not consider this phenomenon to be a manufacturing issue, the situation raises questions considering that the affected models, Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra, are IP68 certified. This certification should ensure protection against dust and moisture, including immersion in water up to 1.5 meters deep.

There is speculation that moisture could enter the phones’ case during assembly in high temperature and humidity conditions. Moist air trapped in the phone’s sealed case could condense on cold surfaces like glass lenses, becoming visible as water droplets, Android Central writes.
