The Cibin Market modernization project enters the phase of developing the PUZ and obtaining a construction permit

The agri-food markets in Sibiu are being modernized, and the first step in this direction is the rehabilitation of the Cibin Market. This project includes not only the modernization of the market itself, but also the construction of a multi-level underground parking. Currently, work is being carried out for the development of the Feasibility Study, the Zonal Urban Plan and the Technical Project, necessary to obtain the construction permit.

In an interview given to Ora de Sibiu, the mayor of Sibiu, Astrid Fodor explained the phase in which the rehabilitation projects of the city’s markets are.

“The Cibin market will be the first to be modernized, as part of the larger project of the construction of a multi-storey above-ground parking lot, which will include the agri-food market. Currently, the designer contracted following a solution competition is working on the PUZCP, the feasibility study and the technical project. It is a mega project that will change the face of the entire area of ​​the market. If we also take into account the PUZs promoted by private investors for this area, an important part of the lower city will change radically”, explained Astrid Fodor.

On the list of next objectives is Piața Vasile Aron for which the PUZ has already been completed and approved by the City Council.

“The next one will be Piața Vasile Aaron, which is also part of the construction project of a large-capacity above-ground parking lot. The Zonal Urban Plan is drawn up and approved by the Local Council, and the feasibility study is in progress”, explained the mayor of Sibiu.

Astrid Fodor claims that these projects are of major importance considering that the parking lots that will be built are to be positioned in the most congested neighborhoods in the city. A third parking lot will be set up in the Cireșica area.

“These projects are important because we will modernize the agri-food markets, but also because we will set up high-capacity parking lots in congested areas of the neighborhoods. We will set up a third large parking lot, this time underground, in the area of ​​Siretului Street, behind the Cireșica complex,” Fodor said.
