Emil Boc declared that peace is not eternal and must be cultivated every day, carefully.

Peace is not eternal, peace must be carefully cultivated every day. The fact that we have 79 years of peace is because our grandfathers and fathers understood that only cooperation between nations can bring peace and prosperity. If we do not have peace, we have nothing in this world. I hope the younger generation will understand this and defend their future. Do not forget that peace is not eternal and it does not only mean the absence of war, but also the cultivation of solidarity every day. Happy birthday Europe, happy birthday Romania”, said Emil Boc at the event organized in Piața Unirii.

May 9, 1950 it was the historical moment represented by the “Schuman Declaration”, which proposed the idea of a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between the nations of Europe unthinkable. Robert Schuman’s proposal is considered to be the cornerstone of the European Union.

On May 10, 1877the motion adopted by the Assembly of Deputies and the Senate became law through its promulgation by ruler Carol I, officially consolidating the emergence of the new independent state. The independence thus proclaimed was consecrated and defended on the battlefieldthrough the heroism and sacrifices of the Romanian army which, between April 1877 and February 1878, contributed decisively to the war waged against the Ottoman Empire.
