A new ticketing system will be implemented at the ASTRA Museum. “It’s normal in the 21st century. Everything will be digital, on the model of Bran Castle”

--

The Astra National Museum in Sibiu will modernize its access system in the museum, by concessioning the ticketing service. The institution launched a tender to identify an economic operator with which to conclude the concession contract for the implementation of an integrated ticketing system that includes the automated sale of tickets and subscriptions, as well as an access control system with visitor monitoring. It will be modeled after the Bran Castle, director Ciprian Ștefan explains.

In the specifications it is mentioned that, in the medium and long term, it is expected that by granting the provision and management of ticketing services to an economic operator, the collection system for various services and access to the open-air Museum will be made more efficient, especially during busy periods weekends, holidays, cultural actions/special events, “avoiding any dissatisfaction of the visitors or tense situations, which would also affect the image of the ASTRA Museum, a cultural institution of national importance”.

Thus, the sale of tickets and access subscriptions for visitors to the ASTRA Museum will be done online, through the museum’s online sales platform, which will be resumed and integrated into the system by the concessionaire or by providing a superior, more efficient online sales platform, which provides easy, intuitive, mobile-friendly use, as well as secure payment processing, but also technical support for uptime, monitoring tools, search engine optimization, multiple integrations with marketing tools.

“First of all, we will thus make public access to the museum more efficient; at the same time, we are securing the entrances to the museum. A new digital system also leads to an efficiency of the human resources activity, that is, I will no longer need six people at the main gate, at the cashier, I will need two or three and I can take the rest to other sectors. At the same time, I avoid possible frauds and at the same time access to the Museum for people who cheat. In addition, it is also normal in the 21st century to have a very efficient museum access system. Everything will be digital, for a fee, on the model of the Bran Castle”, Ciprian Ștefan, the director of the ASTRA Museum, told us.

It states that the investment is expected to improve the museum’s revenue by at least 20%.

Ticketing services will initially be provided in two locations of the ASTRA Museum: the open-air museum in the Dumbrava Forest, with four access points, and at Casa Artelor in Piața Mică, with one access point. “Additionally, based on an addendum to the concession contract, if the ASTRA Museum will implement a project intended for the visiting public at the following location: Sibiu, str. Bastionului, no. 6A: 1-3 access points, as appropriate,” the specification reads.

According to the details of the announcement, the auction is scheduled for May 28. Bidders must demonstrate previous experience in managing ticketing services. Among the specific requirements, bidders must prove that they have performed similar services in the last three years, with a cumulative value of at least 2,000,000 lei without VAT. The contracting authority reserves the right to verify this information directly with the final beneficiaries of the contracts presented as similar experience.

The concession contract will have a duration of 40 months from the date of commissioning of the system, which will not exceed 90 days from the signing of the contract by the museum administration and the economic operator designated as the winner in the auction.

The total estimated value of the contract is 2,746,813 lei, which represents 10.75% of the revenues that the Museum estimates it will have during the concession contract.

Currently, access to the Open Air Museum is done by purchasing a ticket at the cashier at the entrance to the institution’s territory. On the website of the ASTRA Museum there is a page dedicated to rates, with a button for buying subscriptions, but it is unavailable. The same is on the museum app.
