The president of PSD Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, said on Thursday, for HotNews.ro, that PSD received a loan of 500,000 euros from Gigi Becali for the campaign for the European Parliament. Her statement comes after prosport.ro published the information that Gigi Becali financed with 500,000 euros the campaign of the PSD candidate for the capital’s mayor’s office, Gabriela Firea.

Asked by the HotNews.ro reporter if it is a loan to the PSD’s Bucharest organization, Gabriela Firea answered. “He didn’t lend me, he borrowed the party, the national PSD, through a notary public, under the terms of the law. You can contact Mrs. Elena Vlad – PSD economic director. The money is for the general campaign, the loan was for the European Parliament, not for local ones. In any case, the local amounts are much lower than in the European Parliament”, explained Gabriela Firea to the HotNews.ro reporter.

Her statement comes in the context in which Gigi Becali declared, quoted by prosport.ro, that she “put 500,000 euros into Gabriela Firea’s PSD campaign”.

“My daughter is running. She has no money. The MEP candidates have to lend some money, which they take back. And she has nowhere to go. That’s what parties do. And she came to me to help her, and I told her she was fine. I don’t need the DNA, I make it public (the donation), I gave PSD 500,000 euros. Money that he gives back to me, after they receive it from the state. That the state gives them an amount of money based on the percentage. I don’t know how much he takes,” Gigi Becali said in a video posted on the zonenewstv YouTube channel.
