“DN 2S, kilometer section 4+500 – 5+100 meters, on Brăila Bridge, Brăila county, milling and bituminous coating works will take place today, between 07:00 – 19:00. Road traffic will be restricted on lane no. 1 of the direction of travel Tulcea – Brăila, taking place on the second, with signaling by directional beacons, with a speed restriction of 30 km/hour”, the Infotraffic Center announced on Thursday.
The Brăila objective is the largest suspension bridge in Romania, the third in size in Europe and the last over the Danube before the river flows into the Black Sea. The bridge was inaugurated in July 2023, but shortly after the ceremony the first problems appeared. At the end of August 2023, a man filmed the moment when he unscrewed numerous screws of the bridge components by hand. Also, unevenness appeared and repairs were needed.
According to the designers and builders of the objective, the bridge over the Danube from Brăila will be used for at least 120 years. The management of the Road Company has not yet accepted the work and announced that the acceptance will be made only if the bridge and the connecting roads meet the quality standards stipulated in the contract.
