An earthquake of medium intensity occurred on Tuesday in the Vrancea area. The announcement was made by the National Research – Development Institute for Earth Physics INCDFP.

According to the INCDFP, “on May 7, 2024, at 6:32:18 p.m. (Romanian local time), a moderate earthquake with magnitude (EWS) M 4.1 occurred in the VRANCEA SEISMIC AREA, VRANCEA, at a depth of 140 km” .
The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 44km W of Focsani, 54km N of Buzau, 71km SE of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 79km E of Brasov, 87km NE of Ploiesti.
The earthquake did not cause any casualties or damage. Since the beginning of April, more than 29 earthquakes have been recorded in Romania, with magnitudes between 2 and 3.9.
