After being caught driving over 170 km/h, Daniel Horodniceanu won the case with the Vrancea Police

Daniel Horodniceanu, the former head of DIICOT, won the lawsuit against the Vrancea police, which he opened after he was caught driving at a very high speed.

The judges decided to give the case to Daniel Horodniceanu, vice president of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), even though he was caught in Vrancea county driving at over 170 km/h. The incident took place a year and a half ago.

At that time, the policemen withheld his license for 90 days, and the former head of DIICOT even had an episode of conflict with law enforcement.

Later, he contested the measure taken by the law enforcement officers, and now Daniel Horodniceanu has won the case with the Vrancea Police, fanatia.ro notes.

“The court notes that, indeed, the metrological verification report certifies that the cineometer device is appropriate from a technical point of view and without reconsidering its own practice in this matter, emphasizes that the concrete conditions in which the recording was made were analyzed”it is stated in the reasoning of the decision.

Also, the judges justify the decision arguing that “it does not appear obvious that the target car was the one driven by the appellant throughout the duration of the recording” and that “parallel to the petitioner’s car another vehicle was also running which seems to be the one targeted by the speedometer during the recording”, quotes antena3.ro.
