The social democrat Nicusor Halici submitted his candidacy for the presidency of the Vrancea County Council on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, accompanied by a team of candidates from the PSD branch for the positions of county councilors. Halici stated that before this operation he had a series of discussions and meetings within the party, in which he presented his plans for the future of Vrancea county.
Nicusor Halici highlighted that he aims for a harmonious and integrated development of the county, with an emphasis on the needs of local communities. “I am running for a human harmonization and physical development of Vrancea county. For an integrated development, prioritized on the needs of the communities“, stated Halici, emphasizing the need for a team of dedicated specialists to lead these efforts.
Also, Halici emphasized the importance of the team of social-democratic mayors, which he considers the most numerous and which, in his opinion, has already demonstrated the ability to lead communities in the direction of development. Thanking the former president of the CJ Vrancea, Marian Oprişan, for the political maturity he showed, Halici confirmed that he does not want to run on any list, emphasizing the political correctness of this decision.
In the context of recent speculations regarding the possible candidacy of Marian Oprişan from another party or as an independent, Halici wanted to clarify the situation.
Nicusor Halici, was elected deputy on the PSD Vrancea lists in 2016 and 2020. In 2022, he resigned from the Romanian Parliament to take over the position of prefect of Vrancea county, and the same year he was elected as president of the PSD county organization, which he led on an interim basis
