In order to prevent unwanted events, the Prevention Inspection of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Crișana” carried out checks at tourist units and places of worship in the county.

Controls at tourist establishments, churches and monasteries

During the past week and during the day of Monday, April 29, prevention inspectors carried out specialized checks at tourist establishments, churches and monasteries. Activities were carried out in which they checked how fire protection rules are respected. In particular, the removal of causes with potential fire generators, such as electrical installations with improvisations, heating installations with malfunctions, were pursued. Also, the provision of fire extinguishers and the training of staff for intervention in case of fire were checked.

“On the Holy Night of the Resurrection, operative staff and prevention inspectors will carry out supervision activities, on the spot, of the manner of observing fire prevention measures during religious ceremonies with large audiences”, the spokesperson of ISU Bihor said , lieutenant-colonel Camelia Roșca.

More than 200 Bihor firefighters from subunits throughout the county are ready to intervene at any time, to save people’s lives and property, extinguish fires, protect the environment and historical and cultural heritage.

The response to medical emergencies will be provided by the 11 crews of SMURD Bihor, as well as 12 release crews from the sub-units of the inspectorate.

Fire prevention measures and rules

Considering the fact that many citizens choose to spend their free time in the middle of nature, using fire sources in open spaces, the risk of fires that endanger people’s lives and property increases.

In order to prevent such events, the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Crişana” recommends the following measures:

  • Do not make fire except in the places allowed and arranged for this purpose, cleaning the surrounding land of anything that can ignite;
  • Do not light the fire in windy weather or at a distance of less than 100 meters from the edge of the forest;
  • Prepare food only in designated rest areas with a fire extinguisher or bucket of water close at hand;
  • Do not throw away the unextinguished cigarette;
  • Never leave the fire unattended, as even a gust of wind could change the direction of the fire, directing the flames towards the vegetation or carrying the incandescent sparks further into the forest;
  • Extinguish the fire before leaving the recreation area;
  • Supervise children at all times to prevent them from playing with fire;
  • Immediately report any fire you notice, to the single number 112.

Regarding the Easter holiday, it is recommended that candles be kept away from clothes and hair, icons and decorative items. When returning home, lit candles or candles must be placed in a non-combustible holder. Do not under any circumstances leave lit candles or candles unattended.

It is also recommended not to block the access roads to places of worship or street hydrants with personal cars, in order to allow fire crews to intervene in the event of an emergency.
