A little girl was born with several purple spots on her body, which in time turned out to be two forms of cancer.

Amelia Topas, now six years old, was born healthy, weighing 1.5 kg, but full of unusual spots, notes The Metro.

Doctors told her parents, Kerri and Igor, that it could be birthmarks, a liver problem or “blueberry muffin” syndrome, a syndrome that can be related to leukemia.

The little girl underwent an ultrasound, an MRI before being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia.

Amelia, from Turriff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, started chemotherapy at just three weeks old and received a bone marrow transplant soon after.

After eight months of treatment, he went into remission, but six months later, the disease relapsed into acute myeloid leukemia.

Kerri, the girl’s mother, said: “Igor was on the way (to the hospital) with Amelia and I received a phone call in which I was told: “I think it would be best for you to come too”.

“I knew the disease had relapsed,” Kerri said.

Amelia started chemotherapy again and received a stem cell transplant. He has now been in remission for five years and is doing well, according to his family.

Kerri, who works at a supermarket, said she didn’t realize there were serious problems when her daughter was born in February 2017.
