Emily Blunt, one of the most popular British actresses of her generation, revealed that she felt sick after having to kiss some of her co-stars in the films she starred in, reports Variety and People magazines.

The 41-year-old actress made the revelation in an interview with legendary American radio host Howard Stern, saying that over the years she has had to mimic “chemistry” with some of the famous actors she has starred alongside.

“Do you ever want to throw up?” Howard Stern, known for his blunt, no-nonsense style, asked her about the scenes where she had to kiss her partners on set.

“Absolute. Absolutely,” she replied, though she wouldn’t say it was due to “some kind of extreme contempt.”

“But I definitely didn’t like some of them,” she pointed out.

“Sometimes it’s a strange thing. Sometimes you can have a connection that’s really effortless but doesn’t translate on screen. Chemistry is a strange thing. It is an ethereal thing that you cannot bottle to buy or sell. It’s there or not,” the British actress explained.

Although she didn’t specify which of her co-stars she didn’t feel a connection with, throughout her career Blunt has starred alongside some of Hollywood’s most famous actors, such as Matt Damon (in the film The Adjustment Bureau), Tom Cruise (Edge of Tomorrow), Ryan Gosling (The Fall Guy) and Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer).

The role in Oppenheimer earned her nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at both the Academy Awards and the BAFTA Awards. In both cases, however, the award was won by the American actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her role in the film The Holdovers.

The role of Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, the famous physicist’s wife, however, earned Blunt the Screen Actors Guild (American) Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also has a Golden Globe to her credit, won in 2007 for her performance in the feature film Gideon’s Daughter.

Her last film, the action comedy The Fall Guy in which he stars alongside Ryan Gosling, debuted this weekend in first place at the North American box office, with receipts but below analysts’ expectations.

The Fall Guy stars Gosling as a former stuntman who tries to track down a missing movie star (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in order to save a major studio film being directed by his ex-girlfriend (Blunt).

Forbes estimated in 2020 that Blunt is one of the highest paid actresses in the world.
